River Barrier Atlas
A crowd-sourced inventory of dams, weirs, and culverts used to plan barrier removal and reconnection.
description
The River Barrier Atlas maps the often-overlooked small barriers that fragment river networks. By combining official records with field-verified citizen observations, it gives a far more complete picture of fragmentation than dam databases alone.
application
Restoration planners use it to identify the barriers whose removal would reconnect the most river length, and to build the evidence base for barrier-removal funding.
