What is this toolkit?

It is a curated, searchable collection of the tools, frameworks, guidance, datasets, and methodologies that support countries in delivering the Freshwater Challenge. Rather than starting from a blank page, practitioners can browse a vetted starting set and filter it down to what fits their context.

Who is it for?

Primarily technical staff in member-country ministries and agencies, along with the NGOs, basin organisations, and consultants who support them. The language and structure assume a working knowledge of freshwater restoration but not of any specific tool.

How were the tools selected?

An initial screening of around fifty tools was assessed against criteria including relevance to Freshwater Challenge goals, credibility of the provider, accessibility, and practical usefulness. The collection is intended to grow as new tools are suggested and reviewed.

How do I use it?

Start on Find a Tool, then narrow the directory using the thematic-area and resource-type filters, or search by keyword. Each tool has a detail page describing what it does, how it is applied, and where to access it, plus related tools you may also find useful.

Can I suggest a tool?

Yes. Use the Submit a Tool form to send us anything you think belongs here. Suggestions are reviewed against the same inclusion criteria and added in future updates.
